ABOUT THE COMMISSION
Role of the Commission

The Commission for Women’s Affairs, Child Development, Family Welfare , Consumer Protection and Handicraft is situated at the Integrated Family Centre, Malabar, Rodrigues. Our Commission has under its aegis, the responsibility of five main areas of responsibilities stated below:

  • To have a society that nurtures the integral development of each individual in a safe and sustainable environment
Mission
  • To provide adequate support and assistance to the family for the promotion of family welfare and protection
  • To implement policies and programmes for the development of children
  • To promote rights and well-being of every child by ensuring protection against any form of abuse, harms or neglect
  • To eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and promote gender equality
  • To provide and safeguard consumer’s right and ensuring continuity in the supply of essential commodities and create confidence and empower customers
  • To create a vibrant, authentic and dynamic handicraft sector that showcases Rodrigues tradition and heritage whilst facilitating viable livelihood for Rodriguan artisans
