• Ensure the wellbeing of each individuals in the family
• Develop relevant strategies to address domestic and gender-based violence (GBV)
• Promote family welfare through a better understanding of the role , rights and duties of each component of the family
• Provide adequate support and assistance to the family for promoting values, traditions and unity in the family
• Conduct investigation and follow-up on all cases referred to the unit
• Inform clients on their rights and deliver talks on all issues pertaining to Family Protection
• Provide for Hotline service with respect to the reporting of Domestic Violence (DV) cases and for Counselling as appropriate

In addition, two shelters operate under the aegis of the Commission through the provision of a grant by the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, namely:

• The Foyer Marie Madeleine de La Croix for victims of Child abuse and neglect
• An Emergency Shelter for victims of Domestic Violence
