Launching of the Roadmap for ICT Sector in Rodrigues
On 6 May 2026, the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, through the launching of the Roadmap for ICT sector of Rodrigues, has embarked on a pivotal journey towards shaping a digitally empowered future for the island. The roadmap has the potential to boost the economic growth and competitiveness both locally and regionally.
The launching was made by the Commissioner for ICT, Mr. Jean Alain Wong So in the presence of the Commissioner for Youth, Mr. Joseph Varok Ravina, The Head of Department, Mr Jean Paul Colin, the IT Manager, Mr. Sanio Henriette, Mr. Vijay Ramachandran and his colleagues from Deloitte, staff of the Commission for ICT, teachers from primary and secondary levels as well as representatives of private sector of Rodrigues
This roadmap outlines a strategic pathway to grow the ICT sector in Rodrigues. The Rod-Digital Vision is anchored on four core values – Trust, Innovation, Sustainability, and Resilience, with five strategic transformation pillars – Human Capital, Connectivity, Economy, Government, and Regulation – each representing a key area for investment and reform.
The Rodrigues Regional Assembly’s vision is phased across a five-year horizon; the roadmap leads to coordinated action and sustainable ICT sector growth where Rodrigues can become a strategic regional player, showcasing a digitally empowered, innovative, and inclusive island economy within the Republic.
