About Us
The Registration of Deeds and Conservation of Mortgages Unit in Rodrigues is responsible, among others, to register information regarding land ownership and obligations and to safeguard the interest of creditors and debtors and of parties in sales and leases of immovable properties; register particulars of deeds and documents presented by members of the legal profession and the public including the transfer of vehicles; follow up action after reassessment of values of immovable properties by the Director, Valuation Department, including representations before the Assessment Review Committee; and collect annual tax payable by campement site owners and campement owners.
The Unit is presently headed by a Principal Registration Officer who reports to the Island Chief Executive for general administration matters and to the Registrar-General or the Deputy Registrar-General or the Assistant Registrar-General in Mauritius on technical matters. He is supported in his tasks by a Senior Registration Officer (Personal), three Registration Officer/Senior Registration Officers and officers in the grades of Management Support Officer and Office Auxiliary/Senior Office Auxiliary.
