MAIN ACHEIVEMENTS OVER THE Financial Year 2022 – 2023
The overall Main Achievements of the Tourism Department for Financial Year 2022 – 2023 are:
- Holding of Promotional Campaigns in Mauritius and Reunion
- Waiving of 50% off the annual rental payment for commercial and industrial leases of holders of Tourist Enterprise Licence for Tourist Accommodation, namely Hotels, Gites, Chambre d’hôte, Guest House and Tourist Residence up to June 2023 in line with the national budgetary measure for Financial year 2022/2023 to support these enterprises in their refurbishment
- Participation of the Commission for Tourism and the Rodrigues Tourism Office in international fairs and conferences including the Germany Roadshow, IFTM Top Résa, Green Destinations 2022 and Future of Tourism Summits in Athens, Salon Nature in France and Salon du Sport in Reunion
- Resumption of direct flights between Reunion and Rodrigues on a weekly basis as from November 2022
- Completion of the training of 1000 tourism operators and employees of fields indirectly related to tourism under the Sus-Island Mauritius Project in March 2023
- Launching of the One Visitor, One Tree Project on 04 March 2023
- Nomination of four (04) Tourism Operators from Rodrigues as Finalist and Award Winners (03 Gold and 01 Bronze) for the 2nd Edition of the Sustainable Tourism Mauritius Awards
- Launching of the Tourism Development Plan 2023 on 11 May 2023 with the SIDPR
