Inauguration of the new Hemodialysis Unit named after Jean Yves Casimir.

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Crève Coeur Hospital, the Chief Commissioner, Franceau Aubret Grandcourt, G.O.S.K, officially inaugurated the new Hemodialysis Unit named after the late Jean Yves Casimir. He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Commissioner, Johnson Roussety, G.O.S.K., the Commissioner for Health and others, Nicolas Volbert, and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Varok Ravina.

The Chief Commissioner recognised Jean Yves Casimir’s contribution in the health sector. He stated that the government aims to improve health services in Rodrigues, which justifies the inclusion of many important projects in the 2024-2025 Budget. He also emphasized the importance of prevention from a young age and called for a change in attitude to promote a healthy population.

He concluded his speech by congratulating the staff members of the Commission for Health and Others.

The Deputy Chief Commissioner also expressed his admiration for Jean Yves Casimir, calling him a role model as a pharmacist. Additionally, he encouraged the employees of various departments to collaborate effectively and urged the population to place greater importance on their health to reduce risks of diseases.

As for the Heath Commissioner, Nicolas Volbert, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the healthcare system in Rodrigues. He mentioned that the new unit was equipped with 17 machines operating simultaneously. He also highlighted the goal of reducing medical transfers to Mauritius by providing treatments directly in Rodrigues, and concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude to all the staff of his commission.

The inauguration ended with the unveiling of a plaque and a visit of the new Jean Yves Casimir Hemodialysis Unit.
