background-color: #ffffff;\">Organisation of Major Tourism Events<\/b><\/u><\/p><div><ul><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The Commission collaborated with the Rodrigues Kitesurfing Association (RKA) for the relaunching of the <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Rodrigues International Kitesurf Festival (RIKF) for its 8<sup>th<\/sup> Edition from 26 to 30 July 2023<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> after a two year break due to the COVID Pandemic. There were 37 participants to this edition<\/span><\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The World Tourism Day<\/strong> was celebrated this year on the 26<sup>th<\/sup> September and 27<sup>th<\/sup> September 2023 with <strong>a mass and the first \u201cSalon du Tourisme\u201d<\/strong> in Rodrigues under the theme \u201cTourism and Green Investments<\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission collaborated with the \u201cAssociation Guides Randonn\u00e9e Rodriguais (AGRR)\u201d for the organisation of the <strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">3rd edition of the &#8220;Festival de Randonnee&#8221;<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> from 30 September to 01 October 2023 under the theme &#8216;Sensibilisation et Decouverte&#8217;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission for Tourism was one of the major sponsor of the <strong>14<sup>th<\/sup> Edition of the Trail de Rodrigues<\/strong> which was held on 05 November 2023 under the theme \u201cKoste Zil Osean Indien\u201d. This year, there were a total of 1043 participants. 435 foreign participants were welcomed from 14 different countries<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-53199d6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"53199d6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u><b>2. <\/b><strong>The Commission for Tourism and the Rodrigues Tourism Office attended the following National and International Tourism Fairs:<\/strong><\/u><\/p><div><ul><li>Salon Pret \u00e0 Partir in Mauritius from the 25<sup>th<\/sup> to 27<sup>th<\/sup> August 2023<\/li><li>The IFTM Top Resa 2023 in Paris, France from the 03<sup>rd<\/sup> to 05<sup>th<\/sup> Oct 2023<\/li><li>Les Florileges in Reunion Island from the 13rd to 22rd October 2023 followed by a Workshop with the Travel Agencies in Reunion Island<\/li><li>The World Travel Market 2023 held in ExCel, London from the 6<sup>th<\/sup> to the 8<sup>th<\/sup> November 2023<\/li><li>Miel Vert which was held at Plaine des Cafres in R\u00e9union Island from 05 to 14 January 2024<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6cdd3e5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6cdd3e5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u><b>3.\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: bold; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 1rem;\">Swiss Tourism Awards 2023<\/span><b style=\"font-style: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\">\u00a0<\/b><\/u><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rodrigues Island was awarded the \u201cDestination of Excellence\u201d prize \u201cfor the pristine beaches, breathtaking natural landscapes and cultural authenticity\u201d during the <strong>Swiss Tourism Awards 2023<\/strong> which was held in Lugano, Switzerland from 3rd to 5th November 2023.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Swiss Tourism Awards is a prestigious international award given in Switzerland for the purpose of showcasing excellence in different segments of the tourism industry and uncovering destinations with a strong tourism vocation that are not often part of the better-known tourist circuits.\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><u><strong>4.<\/strong> <strong>In December 2023, The Rodrigues Tourism Office handed over a cheque of MUR 135,710 to the Rodrigues Regional Assembly representing dividends for FY 2022\/2023.<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">5. <u>The Commission for Tourism and the Rodrigues Tourism Office welcomed <\/u><\/span><u>03 cruise vessels from \u201c<em>La Compagnie du Ponant<\/em>\u201d<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> during the month of December 2023.<\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/p><div><table style=\"width: 100.516%; The ceremony took place at the Hotel Le Meridien in Mauritius. The Commission for Tourism and the Rodrigues Tourism Office has the opportunity, during the ceremony, to reward the TOP Best Travel Agents (3 IATA and 3 Non-IATA) with a trophy and a certificate for their top sales during period April to December 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u><strong>7.&nbsp;<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: bold; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 1rem;\">Familiarisation Trip in Rodrigues<\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commission for Tourism and the Rodrigues Tourism Office welcomed a delegation from different travel agencies in South Africa for a Familiarisation Trip in Rodrigues organized by Thompson Holidays from 18 to 21 February 2024. This was an attempt to make the travel agents explore and discover Rodrigues as a new product to be sold to their clients and thereby increase the number of arrivals from South Africa which is relatively low.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><u>8.
