Development of Human Resources
About Us
The Human Resource Development Centre operates under the Commission for Vocational Training. The mission of the Centre is to act as a catalyst and facilitator for the promotion of capacity building in Rodrigues. Its objectives are to promote Human Resource Development; to stimulate a culture of training and life-long learning; to reduce the mismatch between training needs and training offers and; to provide information, advice and guidance which enable students and trainees to make appropriate and effective decisions about learning, training and work.
The Commission for Vocational training also provides career guidance services to students and trainees in Rodrigues through individual and group counselling as well as the organisation of activities in the field of career guidance (Career Guidance Fair, talks in colleges, decouverte des métiers) in collaboration with a Career Guidance Network comprising representatives RRA institutions, primary and secondary institutions, training institutions in Rodrigues, the Youth Council and other NGOs in Rodrigues.

Financial Assistance to Post-secondary students
The Commission for Vocational Training offers different types of financial assistances to Post secondary/Tertiary students as follow:
- Payment of registration fees to
- One off grant at start of studies
- Monthly stipend
- One off grant for acquisition of laptop
- Grant for lodging
- Accommodation facilities in Mauritius
- Monthly internet package allowance
- Payment of registration fees for parents having more than one child
- Air ticket scheme to students

- RRA Technical Scholarship

- Post Graduate Scholarships in medical field
We also ensure coordination for scholarships donated by other bodies such as:

Career Guidance
The Commission for Vocational Training provides career guidance services to students of all grades. The main activities revolve around Subjects Choice in grade 9 and grade 11 and Tertiary studies options and financial assistances targeting Grade 12 and 13 students. An annual Training and Career Guidance Expo is organized in view of providing a platform for students and the public in general to interact with training institutions from Rodrigues, Mauritius and Abroad. Other activities such as ‘Decouverte des Metiers’ are also organized to promote careers exploration.
Other Units under the purview of the Commission for Vocational Training
1 Documentation Unit
The Documentation Unit is the public information arm of the Human Resources Development Centre. It offers facilities such as Reference books and magazines, Information booklet on universities, post-secondary institutions and training institutions, application forms for intakes in post-secondary and tertiary institutions and for scholarships, information on scholarship opportunities and facilities offered to students and access to computers and Internet.
2. Computer Lab
The Computer Lab is equipped with 25 desktop computers. It is a training room for learners in the field of IT. It plays an important role in the delivery of training courses in Rodrigues as it represents a focal point through which interveners rely to keep Rodriguan learners up to date with other institutions in Mauritius and abroad.
3. Binding Unit
The Binding Unit provides binding and reprographic services to the different Commissions/Department of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly. It is mainly concerned with book Binding and Print Finishing to provide outputs such as Note books, repair of damage books, attendance books, dispatch books, movement books, mise-en-page budget speech documents, file making, packing, Laminating Rolls; Laminating Pouches; Spiral; Binding and Report Covers; Self-adhesive Pouches and books.
