About Us

The Rodrigues Health Services have experienced considerable changes and evolution during the last years in line with the mission of the Rodrigues Regional Government and the Commission for Health, that is, to provide quality health care services to the Rodriguan population.

Consequently, during the recent years, the Rodrigues Health Services has upgraded its diagnostic and treatment capacity with the acquisition of modern and technologically advanced equipment and in connection upgraded also its infrastructures to host that equipment.

This technological growth has led also to the recruitment of several technical cadres whose aim is to provide the assistance needed for the smooth running of all the services. This human resource are the key aspect for the Commission for Health to achieve its may objective as mentioned above, that is, to provide quality health care services. 

Subsequently, this increase volume of work for the administrative and non-medical department, such as the Catering, Linen and Engineering services, has led to higher the level of professionalism and motivation that the staff of the health services put in the assignment of their daily duties.

Roles and Functions

Our main responsibilities are:

  • To ensure the effective delivery of the following to meet the needs of health institutions namely, Catering Services, Domestic and Allied Services, Linen and Laundry Services, Utility Services including transport, telephone, water supply, electricity and waste disposal and the services provided by the Central Sterile Supply Department 
  • To ensure that regulations relating to finance, procurement and supply and human resource are well interpreted and complied with
  • To plan, organize and oversee the procurement of equipment, instruments and spare parts and to ensure that they are of good quality and in good running condition 
  • To ensure the maintenance and repairs of building, plant, equipment, instruments and furniture 
  • To ensure optimum and judicious use of supportive services 
  • To assist in all training and continuing education programs and to contribute to training involving his area of expertise 
  • To take adequate measures to safeguard the security of buildings, assets and personnel 
  • To participate in the organization and provision of services during natural disasters and emergency situations (such as, cyclones, fire, air crash)
  • To participate effectively in all activities relating to regional boards and committees
  • To contribute to the proper functioning of health services including transport, stores, catering and other logistic support
  • To provide advice and participate in matters relating to training and continuing education programmes for officers
  • To ensure the effective and judicious use of resources 
  • To assist in planning the needs for Rodrigues in respect of buildings, plants and equipment and to ensure their commissioning on time
  • To ensure the optimum use is made of human and material resources and to monitor and evaluate their impact on the health services
  • To assist infrastructural and manpower planning activities
